Student Groups at the University of Queensland:
There are many student-run groups at the University of Queensland that take an active interest and role in co-ordinating teaching, awareness and training about Global Health, active within the medical school and University-wide.
The main ones based at the University of Queensland are: UQMS, SWIM, TIME, TROHPIQ and UNSA. They are outlined below in more detail.

UQMS: University of Queensland Medical Society (UQ-UNMDG Project Partner)
The UQMS represents the 1400 medical students enrolled at the University of Queensland.
A student-run incorporated society, independent of the University of Queensland Union, the elected Executive committee oversees the management of the Society, with crucial support from dozens of volunteer social convenors and academic representatives.
The UQMS demonstrates its major commitment to Global Health through the actions of UNMDG Project Convenor, a UQMS student position who officially represents the Project for both the SOM and UQMS.
As an equal partner of the UQ-UNMDG Project, the UQMS sees the challenges of Global health as an important issue to be addressed within the MBBS Curriculum and among extracurricular activities. The UQMS recognises and supports the outstanding work of its independent affiliates: SWIM, TIME and TROHPIQ.

SWIM: Supporting Women In Medicine
SWIM is a non-profit organisation for UQ medical students (women and men!). SWIM aims to provide an academic and social forum to address issues of women in medicine and in the wider community.
SWIM achieves this through various social and academic activities, advocacy, fundraising for women’s health issues and raising students’ awareness of career opportunities and choices available to women within the medical profession.
SWIM is a key partner in the Pre-Elective UNMDG Collaborative Workshop for 1st years. Other SWIM activities relating to the UNMDG Project include the SWIM Question and Answer Night.
